How to read the Venice route map?
You look for the starting point and the desired destination and check the map to see which line is visible at the respective station. These are also color-coded so that it is relatively easy to find any necessary transfer points.
How to get from Punta Sabbioni to Venice?
Lines 14 and 15 stop at Punta Sabbioni, with line 14 taking a “detour” via Lido di Venezia and line 15 going directly to Venice. Both routes are very beautiful. In Venice, the ideal place to get off is San Marco – S. Zaccaria. You are already right in the center, pass the Bridge of Sighs and are already in St. Mark’s Square.
How to get from Treporti to Venice?
The less crowded vaporetto station in Cavallino is Treporti. From there, line 12 and line 13 run to Venice. However, the destination is not St. Mark’s Square, but the Fondamente Nove station. However, if you would also like to travel to Murano or Burano, these lines are a good choice. They also stop in Murano, Burano, Torcello and San Erasmo on the way to Venice.
How to get to the Lido di Venezia?
There are many different lines to get to the Lido di Venezia. Car ferry no. 17, line 14, line 1, line 10, lines 5.1 and 5.2 and line 6 all stop at the Lido, depending on where you are traveling from. The stop is located on the “city side”, so to get to the beach from the Lido you have to walk a short distance or take the bus.
How to get from the train station to St. Mark’s Square?
The historic center of Venice is not infinitely large, so in principle this route can also be done on foot. However, as this is probably not the only route you will take during your stay in Venice, the various lines in Venice are of course a good option. The station from the train station in Venice is called Ferrovia. From there, line 1 is the quickest way to St. Mark’s Square.
It is important which landing stage you choose. These are labeled A, B, C and D (there is currently no departure from E). This indicates the direction in which the selected line is traveling. This is because line 1 travels in the direction of both Piazzale Roma and St. Mark’s Square. Therefore, for the shortest journey from Venice train station to St. Mark’s Square, select pier B and board line 1. The journey takes you through the Grand Canal, under the Rialto Bridge and you arrive directly at St. Mark’s Square. It is a special experience to travel along the busy Grand Canal.
How to get to Murano?
From Cavallino, it is best to take line 12 via Treporti station or Punta Sabbioni station. This goes directly to Murano via Burano and Torcello.
From Venice, take line 12 or 13 to Murano via Fondamente Nove station. From Piazzale Roma or Santa Lucia station, take line 3 in the direction of Murano.
Where to buy the ticket for Venice?
We recommend buying your ticket for Venice online in advance. This saves you having to queue at the ticket office and you can go straight away. We recommend choosing the 24-hour ticket for a day trip. This way you are not tied to time and can use almost any of the lines in Venice. The only exceptions are the Alilaguna lines and the People Mover from Tronchetto to Piazzale Roma. If you are in Venice for several days, you can of course also choose the multi-day ticket.
